Chiropractic and Your Medical Aid in Hillcrest

Most medical aids in South Africa do cover chiropractic treatment, and like many chiropractors I can claim directly on your behalf. Below you will find how payment works, the schemes I accept, and answers to the questions I hear most often in practice.

Does medical aid cover chiropractic in South Africa?

In most cases, yes. South African medical schemes generally cover chiropractic treatment, with the cost drawn from your medical savings or day-to-day benefits rather than your hospital plan. Cover does differ from one plan to the next, so it is always worth confirming with your scheme before your first visit. If you are unsure what your plan allows, a quick call to your medical aid will tell you exactly what is covered.

How payment and claims work

I like to keep payment simple and transparent, so there are no surprises on the day.

01

First consult upfront

Your first consultation is payable on the day. It covers your full assessment, diagnosis, and first treatment.

02

Follow-ups claimed

Follow up appointments can be claimed directly through your medical aid, funds pending.

03

Paid from savings

When I claim for you, the amount comes off your medical savings, so check you have enough available beforehand.

04

If a claim is short

If a claim is rejected or your savings run out, the balance is payable directly to the practice within 7 days of notice.

Common questions about medical aid and chiropractic

Will my medical aid pay for chiropractic treatment?

Most schemes cover chiropractic from your savings or day-to-day benefits. Cover depends on your specific plan and the funds available, so it is worth confirming with your scheme before your first visit.

Does chiropractic come out of my medical savings?

In most cases, yes. When I claim on your behalf, the consultation is paid from your medical savings rather than your hospital benefit. Once those savings are used up, the account would be settled directly with the practice.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No. Chiropractors in South Africa are first contact practitioners, so you can book directly without a referral from your doctor.

Can you claim from my medical aid for me?

Yes. For follow up appointments I can submit the claim directly to your medical aid on your behalf, funds pending. The first consultation is payable upfront on the day.

What if my claim is rejected or my savings run out?

If a claim is declined for any reason, or your savings are finished, the outstanding amount becomes payable directly to the practice within 7 days of notice.

My medical aid is not on your list. Can I still come in?

Absolutely. The list above is not exhaustive, and you are welcome whether or not you are on medical aid. Get in touch and we will sort out the details together.
